Classification of Students

The following system for student classification is used by the university for all students except those enrolled for preparatory coursework:

Class Credits
Freshman fewer than 28 credits
Sophomore at least 28 credits
Junior at least 60 credits
Senior at least 90 credits

Senior classification does not ensure graduation; all requirements for a degree must be satisfactorily met in order to graduate. Freshmen and sophomores have lower-division standing. Juniors and seniors have upper-division standing. Unless specified otherwise in the course description, upper-division courses are open only to students with sophomore classification or above.
