Classification of Students
The following system for student classification is used by the university for all students except those enrolled in the standalone Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or those enrolled for preparatory coursework:
Class | Credits |
---|---|
Freshman | fewer than 28 credits |
Sophomore | at least 28 credits |
Junior | at least 60 credits |
Senior | at least 90 credits |
Senior classification does not ensure graduation; all requirements for a degree must be satisfactorily met in order to graduate. Freshmen and sophomores have lower-division standing. Juniors and seniors have upper-division standing. Unless specified otherwise in the course description, upper-division courses are open only to students with sophomore classification or above.
