Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration

A Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration will prepare students for leadership roles in one of the fastest-growing fields. With a comprehensive curriculum that covers essential aspects of healthcare administration, policy, finance, and ethics, graduates will be well-equipped to drive improvements in healthcare delivery and organizational performance. As healthcare continues to evolve, the skills and knowledge gained from this program will enable graduates to make a significant impact on the quality and efficiency of healthcare services, ultimately contributing to better patient outcomes and a more effective healthcare system.

Careers in the field of healthcare administration include private practice office manager, healthcare consultant, and medical reimbursement specialist.  Graduates can also pursue careers in management, including healthcare human resource manager, nursing home administrator, health services manager, hospital administrator, and administrative services manager. 

Those interested in continuing their studies pursue graduate programs in healthcare administration, public health, or related fields.

Purpose and Program Learning Outcomes (PLO) for the B.S. in Healthcare Administration

Purpose: The bachelor's in healthcare administration degree equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively manage healthcare facilities. Graduates will be equipped to handle administrative functions, implement healthcare policies, manage finances, and ensure compliance with regulations, thereby playing a crucial role in enhancing the overall quality and efficiency of healthcare services.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration will:

  • PLO 1: Integrate ethical principles from a Christian worldview within healthcare administration practices.
  • PLO 2: Demonstrate effective written communication skills in healthcare administration.
  • PLO 3: Demonstrate effective oral communication skills in healthcare administration.
  • PLO 4: Utilize technology to make data-driven decisions to improve patient care and healthcare quality.
  • PLO 5: Develop a strategic plan to improve healthcare access and outcomes.
  • PLO 6: Apply advanced management and administrative skills to ensure the sustainability of healthcare organizations.

The Los Angeles Pacific University Core comprises the General Education requirements and the LAPU Distinctives. Students are encouraged to complete the Core before beginning their major requirements. General Education requirements may be met by transfer work. The LAPU Distinctives are required for all undergraduate degrees at LAPU.
