Preparatory Coursework (Graduate)

Overview

Los Angeles Pacific University offers a Preparatory (PRGR) program to assist students in meeting prerequisite requirements for graduate programs at other institutions.

Eligibility

PRGR is intended for students who are not already admitted to a program and planning to apply to a graduate program at a higher education institution other than LAPU.

Students can receive financial aid for PRGR for a maximum of 12 months from the first class for which aid is being received.

Students must inform the University of their intended program (e.g., MSN) to determine eligibility and appropriate financial aid.

Course Offerings

Students may choose from the following approved courses: ARTS 110, BIOL 105, BIOL 225, BIOL 230, BIOL 240, CHEM 115, COMM 105, ENGL 101, ENGL 105, ENGL 115, HIST 202, HIST 204, HIST 420, HSCI 105, MATH 099, MATH 125, PHIL 210, PSYC 105, PSYC 295, PSYC 300, and STAT 280.

Students may be eligible to receive financial aid for courses not listed above if they can provide proof that the course is a requirement for admission to their intended program at another institution.

Evaluation, Transfer Credit, and Repeated Courses

PRGR students are evaluated for specific prerequisite courses only (ENGL 101, ENGL 105, BIOL 230, MATH 099, and STAT 280).

Successful completion of these courses will be reflected on the student's LAPU record, enabling them to register for subsequent courses with prerequisites.

Students are responsible for verifying with their intended transfer institution that LAPU courses will fulfill their specific program requirements.

Students may repeat courses required for transfer to another institution for reasons such as grade improvement or course recency.
